CALL FOR PAPERS: Submission deadline (new date): 27 February 2012

IADIS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ICT, SOCIETY AND HUMAN BEINGS 2012
Lisbon, Portugal, 21 ñ 23 July 2012
(http://www.ict-conf.org/)
part of the IADIS Multi Conference on Computer Science and Information
Systems (MCCSIS 2012)
Lisbon, Portugal, 17 - 23 July 2012
(http://www.mccsis.org)

* Conference Programme Co-Chairs:
Gunilla Bradley, Professor Emerita, School of ICT, Royal Institute of
Technology, Stockholm, Sweden
Diane Whitehouse, Chair of IFIP WG 9.2 on Social Accountability and
Computing, The Castlegate Consultancy, UK
Conference background and goals
The effects of ICT on human beings as well as the interaction between ICT,
individuals, and society are all within the focus of this conference. Both
analyses of interactions and effects are important. Changes in behaviour,
perspectives, values, competencies, human and psychological aspects and
feelings are all of interest. Reflections on past, present, and future
challenges ñ especially planning to handle the future ñ are encouraged.
The conference pays attention to societal changes, global and more local
organisational and institutional changes, changes in values and in
lifestyles, as well as individual cognitive effects and changes,
motivational and emotional changes. It also appeals to solution-building in
terms of desirable goals and actions for reaching a Good Information
Society.
In general all types of research strategies are encouraged, and especially
cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary studies. Case studies, broader
empirical field studies, theoretical analyses, cross-cultural studies,
scenarios, ethnographic studies, epistemological analyses may all be
presented.

* Conference scope
The broader scope of this conference is presented in the conference web site
http://www.ict-conf.org/ under ìCall for Papersî including a theoretical
framework which outlines the conference approach. The conference is based on
the notion of a convergence model developed by Professor Gunilla Bradley.
The convergence model includes several broad concepts. These are
increasingly interacting with an accelerating speed: ICT; Globalization;
Life Environment: Life Role; and Effects on Humans. These five concepts
correspond to the four conference tracks (Tracks A, B, C and D). Under each
broader concept or track, several key words are listed. They are intended to
inspire submissions, and to remind contributors that each phenomenon or key
word cannot be separated from its actual context at whatever level that lies
ñ the group, organisation or societal level including the national,
international or cultural levels. This underpinning notion is tightly
related to potential action strategies for human beings to contribute to the
Good Information (or ICT) society. Three conference tracks are hence
concerned with actions (Track E, F and G).
For the ICT, Society and Human beings 2012 conference, we especially
encourage contributions on the following four topics:
- Life Role and ICT
ï       Professional role
ï       Private role
ï       Citizen's role
- Quality of Life and ICT
- ICT and Effects on Humans
- Actions for reaching the Good Information Society
